I think wooden drift boats have recived a bad rap because of the older hammer and nail designs. However, there is a decent following of wooden boat enthusiasts ( I see them all the time on the river). There are some good looking SG designs out there , but most use older techniques. Laporter, I came onto this thread a little late, and I don't post often at all but it was kind of cool to hear someone talk about American Tug. I made the switch to metric awhile back and it has made life sooo much easier. I would say you can definatly roll this kayak back to the upright and seated position, there may be some boats that are difficult or impossible to right such as some sit on tops or hybrid type kayaks. It's very important skill that eskimo roll thingy but once you get the technique righting yourself ...

I learned the addition subtraction thing with a tape not too long ago, pretty cool. I remember seeing an old bood somewhere that talks just about using tape measures for a variety of nifty things. As far as people looking for metric tapes and such try www.leevalley.com they have a decent seclection....

Web site problems
Has anyone else had any problems with the bateau sites today, or I have picked up some kind of virus? Last night I couldn't get on the site because someother weird page would load, and today I can't get to the amature boat building site... weird "Ronin" page loads!?!?!
