Re: Shoal Bandit - GF14...floats!

Haven't been here in a while, but looks like the Noonan hat was a hit......and feel like I must pay respect to Rodney Dangerfield and one of his all time one-liners from Caddyshack....it starts out "Hey Everybody, Were All Gonna...." you can finish the rest. ...and thanks for all the kind ...

Re: Shoal Bandit - GF14...floats!

.....and one of the many take home messages from Shine somewhere along the way, was "you never want to see a square edge on a boat"....which makes sense for aesthetics, but more importantly a safety perspective. Although round edges take longer....the end result is worth it. ....Bateau has...

Re: Shoal Bandit - GF14...floats!

Really appreciate the kind words!...and everyone else taking time to post threads of their own builds! There were a lot of errors, ommissions, and additions...I'm not one for drawing things out, but pretty happy with the way it turned out...Had been building on and off for so long that I couldn't co...

Shoal Bandit - GF14...floats!

http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/20632/normal_HPIM0747.JPG After 2 1/2 years incubating in my "detached garage", modifying several 4, 5, and 6 letter words, 2 or so girlfriends and several handles later.... a boat hatched out of my driveway....and I'm Stoked!!!...it floats! http...

Murry, I am building a GF14, and have toyed with installing permanent bow/stern lights; however it quickly comes to mind how often I've used a spotlight in lieu of a stern light that was corroded. Or how often wiring fatigue killed both bow and stern lights...and I've gone ape!@#$ when this happened...

Most impressive work! Really appreciate detailed descriptions...that boat looks to have more storage than my 18 Parker. I am a big fan of recessed hinges and latches, more so when barefooted. ? Is the hinge mechanism actually located on the underside of the hatch? Not that I have the patience right ...

Cape Man, Didn't see where I could send you a PM, but saw you were an aquaculture professor down in FL, cool. I was a student of Wade Watanabe working with Sea Bass and Flounder at UNCW for my thesis work. Wade was at Harbor Branch in FL at one time, don't know if there is connection. Sounds like yo...

Concur with Shine, great idea. If had to do over, would relocate chase tubes to an inwell setup or mid-side panel for extra stiffness along side wall.

Constructed a rest under casting deck to accommodate a 9-gl tank, and achieve close to level position. Did have to cut frame down to 2.5" along top edge to get tank in and out, but reinforced edges of opening all around. Boat is getting graphite treatment, should flip back over next week with s...

Just an FYI Murry, I am finishing up a GF14 and used 3/8" Meranti for the bottom and 1/4" Meranti for the sides, and double glassed. The 3/8" made the bottom bend just fine. Don't know if it will make a huge difference in stability, but can't hurt. As CL stated the stiffness really se...
