Re: S3 Primer separating

It is the canoe. I guess I was lazy, and thought since I used the power mixer less than a day earlier and the can is half empty, shaking would work. It doesn't. It is hard to the touch in the messed up part, so that is probably good. No pictures now. The exterior should be green by the weekend, thou...

S3 Primer separating

After applying 2 coats of primer successfully yesterday, I had problems today with the primer separating. I mixed as instructed, thinned 20% with distilled water and alcohol, and allowed 15-20 minutes induction time. Application began well (rolling and tipping), then a lot of bubbles began appearing...

great knots page! I second that. I assume that the U shape of the Hiawatha will provide more initial stability, but lower ultimate stability. Do you mean campared to the Chenoa? For a family of inexperienced paddlers (not you, the kids), the initial stability of the Hiawatha may leave a little to b...

Go for the 16'. I built the HC16, and have enjoyed it. It is a little tender, but you shouldn't capsize it. It tracks well, better than the flat bottomed rentals I've paddled (of course). My wife and I took it out in a stiff breeze, waves up to 1 1/2 feet, and I was very happy with it. I was able to...

Not cold now! 72 in Raleigh tomorrow. I can't wait to roll it out and sand, and get to the final fairing on the outside (I hope). I don't want sanding dust inside the garage, so this day (on a weekend) has been a long time coming.

No sail, motor, or oars, and no moving parts

Will Jacques design with this as an option? Researchers say technology they have developed would let boats or small aquatic robots glide through the water without the need for an engine, sails or paddles. A University of Pittsburgh research team has designed a propulsion system that uses the natural...

Wait a minute -- highway departments move snow?? They don't just wait until tomorrow and it melts? That's how it seems to northerners that we do it in the south. But it suits me just fine, because I don't want to be on the same road as most of the drivers. Most of the natives can't drive in snow for...
