Re: P-14 1958 CLASSIC GLASS RENOVATION

It is now 2000, at 80 I still have this boat, still solid, no cracks in structure, but The spider cracks on the deck reappeared after a couple of years. Mercury Mark 75 runs flawlessly requiring only a reset of points and a back water jacket gasket replacement. We run it as often as we can get away....

Re: Lets go racin' boys!

The runabouts I raced in the 60s were considerably different than this boat. You'd come to the corner, set the boat and "roll up" onto the chine using body english. This boat runs very flat and appears to turn like a hydro. It has a side fin similar to same and from what I've seen turns li...

Re: Lets go racin' boys!

We won't go into finish application, my luck with this method is not good. The roll and tip primer was a failure, again. So I have reverted to automotive finish for the topside. After some time perusing the site for uploading pics, I'll try again. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/20698/dbo...

Re: 12' MFG Cartopper Skiff project

The reason those seats break loose at the upper attach points - Imagine if you will the forces acting on this little skiff as it moves thru the water. The hull sides are thin and flex as you have noted previously. the boat traveling thru the water tends to "buckle" into a banana shape and ...

Re: Lets go racin' boys!

Ahhh, the ol' roolll and tttip project coming out about as suspected again. Roll on seemed a little thin, but figuring I can tip it out OK. BUT, not to be. My foam brush leaves bristle grooves just like the varnish brush. As I went along, brushing back into the applied paint, it would get thick and ...

Lets go racin' boys!

Been awhile since I posted here, the P-14 is presently tarped over in the storage building awaiting some sightly cooler weather for another foray on the river. Meanwhile, on my bucket list was to go racin' ONE MORE TIME! After watching the Van Weeles engine restorations on the posts here: http://www...

MERRY CHRISTMAS, AGAIN

Another year gone by, how time flys - we had a lot of fun with the P-14 this summer. I took the 4 cylinder off and installed the Mark 75, not a lot faster but more smack! :D :D Attended several vintage meets, and just went to the river here and cruised. Hey, here's what it's all about! take a kid bo...

Re: Mark 75 and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It was in the 60's and sunny on the 22nd, so we were able to do a rollout. Here's my christmas present to myself! This motor was new in 1957 so it will be the perfect accompanyment to the P-14. :D http://www.maxrules.com/billstuff/xmas_motor.jpg I was blessed with a decent engine to start with. This...

Re: 1990 26' Sun Dance CC rebuild

Just to mention - round off the top of your stringers sos the cloth will wrap over and do so with no bubbles. Then you can add cleats to the sides for better floor support.
