Re: Launch Of The "LOL"

For the 2/2.5/3.5 hp yes, Tohatsu, Mercury and Nissan are all identical mechanically. I bought the Tohatsu service manual although I have the Nissan branded motor. Haven't found any difference's yet except paint and decals.

Re: Launch Of The "LOL"

Nah, no hijacking going on here. Boats, motors, trailers, it's all part of the hobby so it's all good.

Re: Launch Of The "LOL"

TomW the trailer is the one from Harbor Freight. About $350 IIRC. It will hold up to a 16' boat and take a load of 600 pounds although I've heard some people have exceeded that load with no problems. The trailers okay, had to make my own bunks but that's no big deal. It's only painted steal though, ...

Re: Launch Of The "LOL"

Getting someone to video it might be difficult for me. To try it out for yourself though you could just C clamp a piece of 2 by lumber on the bow. No permanent alteration of any kind required. Pad the clamps, maybe even the lumber itself so you don't get any scratches or dings in the paint and Bob's...

Re: Launch Of The "LOL"

Just an update to report on how my bow spray deflector worked. In a nutshell it works great. Now for the longer report. On my last motor voyage I got soaked running into a chop, the waves would hit the pram bow and sheet up and of course fly back into my face making the ride miserable. So I added th...

Re: CV16 Caravelle - KS8 - more pictures added

Gratz on the launch. Must feel good after (mostly after) such an epic build. I had the same problem with sheets of water going into a chop with my D5. I built a spray deflector of sorts on the bow but haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet. I think the sheeting may be a feature of pram bows in ge...

Well life finally stopped interfering with boating and I managed to get out on the now motorized dinghy for a few hours. I didn't manage to get any pictures though because I had the camera unknowingly set to video. In the bright sunlight I couldn't see the screen almost at all so after trying a shot...

"Epoxy sticks to epoxy and if you do the next coat before the last has fully cured it will also chemically bond." Don't think you want to switch brands when you do that? I think that site also sells epoxy so he could stay in the same brand. Most epoxies only come from one or two chemical ...

I don't see why you couldn't use it since it's also a thinned epoxy, just using their own formula. Epoxy sticks to epoxy and if you do the next coat before the last has fully cured it will also chemically bond. What you want to use (if anything) would really just be a matter of choice as far as I ca...
