Re: XF20 - New project: Questions (and more to come!)

Finished the build this fall. Took the boat to Tampa (from Houston) to have a professional finish it. He sprayed 2 part epoxy, something that I could not do. Built the sole out of Nidacore so used 4 stringers instead of 2. Put the boat in the water for the first time a few days ago. Lived up to the ...

Re: XF20 - New project: Questions (and more to come!)

Wow, I can't believe it has been almost 9 months since my last post on this thread. After a too hot summer + too much travel + too cold winter, I am finally back building. Inside of the boat is entirely glassed, now time to put in the stringers and frames. I have a question about doing the stringers...

Re: XF-20 Let the fun begin

Thoughts on venting........ With the tunnel unvented , as the boat moves thru the water, negative pressure is created in the tunnel by the water rushing by. This is the venturi effect. The negative pressure fills the tunnel with water and the water level exiting the tunnel is at the top of the tunne...

Re: New XF20 Build

The best way to flip a boat is:

1) Invite 10 or so friends over
2) Ice down a case or two of beer
3) Have the 10 friends simply pick the boat up and flip it
4) Drink the beer

What could be simpler? Has worked for me flawlessly. (Don't do steps 3 and 4 in the wrong order!)

Re: New XF20 Build

Here is what the Sys3 guide says: " All this now allowed us to optimize the coating/fi berglassing resin system since it no longer had to perform other functions. We developed an almost colorless easy to use 2:1 system that cures without amine blush " And here is what is said about Sys3 Si...

Re: New XF20 Build

Here is what System Three says: When this fi rst coat is cured to at least a soft set tack free stage it can be recoated. Subsequent coatings applied at any time between this soft set stage and 72 hours do not need to be sanded and will chemically bond. Subsequent coatings may still bond well after ...
