Thanx for your replies guys, but that didn't really answer my question. The boat will stay in the water for the season, it's to heavy to haul it out every time. In the area I live in, the hull will definitely not stay clean by itself. I thought of putting the unfinished boat in the water and marking...

Or just use a paper towel after you clamped the rubrail to the hull to wipe off excess epoxy. As BoH says: be worried when it doesn't squeeze out...
For me paper towels must have been the "tool" I have used most.

I would recommend building an FL12, it's easy and it works great with an electric trolling motor. My battery went in the middle seat, the cables on my motor were long enough.

From my experience: PVC will stick to epoxy. You might want to sand the pvc pipe first to roughen the surface a bit. The tubing will not be a part of the basic structure of the boat, so strength of the bonding will not be a problem.
Be carefull with epoxy and thinner though.
