Trying to identify a boat - identify the design/make

Hi I have owned a few stitch and glue boats from Bateau before but it has been a few years. Ran across this hull and I am interested in possibly purchasing it. Is anyone familiar with this design or boat? I am trying to find info on the hull design before I make a multi hour drive to look at it. It ...

Re: Stress Cracks - GF12

I do believe it is all in place - the runners do have a few cracks in them - but otherwise are still structurally sound and in place. As for the fiberglass I assume it is correct as this was originally SmilinMatts old GF12. I purchased it from him and rehabbed it a few years back and I am hoping to ...

Re: Stress Cracks - GF12

Hi Tom - Jacques I appreciate the replies - it sounds like the boat is doing just what it should then. I just wasn't sure as the rear portion of the boat flexes under use sometimes, I can feel it moving under my feet occasionally at speed but have never seen any of the cracking in the paint system t...

Stress Cracks - GF12

My GF12 got pounded under anchor by the wake of a commercial boat in the channel - three large wakes hit - right as that happened I looked down the channel three more boats were on their way out so I pulled up really quick and took the other wakes while under way - as it ends up I now have these cra...

GF12 (side console)

I bought the hull from SmilinMatt (his GF12 "Floundering Around) and spent around a year puttering around with it - I had written the board about removing a section of the center seat but was advised not to by Jacques - I am not sure he would approve of all the mods I have made but here it is f...

Re: GF 12 Removal of Center Seat Question

OK - it sounds like the seat needs to stay according to Jacques - too bad - I like the boat but I want more of an open floor plan. In the future I would really like to build a 13' or 14' boat with an open floor plan or with a raised decks and walkable gunnels with an open cockpit as I usually just f...

Re: GF 12 Removal of Center Seat Question

It seems from the responses above - it is OK to remove the Center section as long as you leave the side frames intact and at least a portion of the floor section to strengthen the floor, with no span greater than 2' to 3', and you might also consider another layer of ply to increase the stiffness. M...

GF 12 Removal of Center Seat Question

Hi Guys I have SmilinMatt's old boat "Floundering Around". The boat has been completely sanded, re-epoxied inside and out - patched and repainted with Matthews Marine and two coats of clear - I have put a remote side console on the boat, rewired it and moved the battery to the front. It ha...
