TX18 reduced 10%

Is the TX18 a candidate to be reduced 10% in length to make it a TX16 akin to a Mako 16?

I don't have a requirement for shallow draft, but like the hull design and easy access to the water (low freeboard). My garage is to small to fit a 18' on trailer.

Re: Cats

Yes - for construction purpuses - I have to fit the parts down the side of my house that is only about 4' wide.

Should be good to go.

Re: Cats

Thanks for the info. I figured there was a reason, but had to ask at 1/4 the price.

I live in a coastal community and space is at a premium? Can you give me an idea of the rough dimension of a hull? How much would one hull weigh?

Re: Cats

The E-cat is a pretty compelling design. It would be great as a moving base for camping on on the big lakes out West. Two questions: Has any though been given to using an engine mount trolling motor (Minn Kota RT-80 or similar) in lieu of the Toqueedos? Not sure how 80 lb.. of thrust translates to K...

Wood Deck Options?

Anyone have any experience putting down a wood veneer deck as described by the Geogeon Bros? I have been looking mightily for teak, but I cannot justify the expense. I think gold leaf maybe cheaper. Anyone know of a substitute? Has any one used clear douglas fir in lieu of teak? If I keep it oiled, ...

Re: rebuilding a 1986 268 searay weekender

For my 21 footer, Joel recommended 3 layers 12 oz biax tape for tabbing the sides and 3 layers of 1708 45/45 cloth capping the stringer. You boat is bigger, maybe Shine will recommend adding a layer. Was the engine bolted to these stringers? If yes, you'll want hardwood to replace in kind, if not, b...

Re: 1974 Mako Center Console Resoration

Great looking boat and looks like it is well worth the work.

What the brown decking material on the boat? Is it carpet or paint? It doesn't really look like either in the photo.

Re: OMC to Mercruiser Swap (this time with pictures)

Shine, Thanks for the input. Plugging only the hole for the outdrive proved unrealistic. The wood around the cutout for the outdrive was fine, it was just that the rest of it was rotted. It is now completely removed. Here is a pretty current shot of the situation. Transom wood removed and ground dow...

Re: OMC to Mercruiser Swap (this time with pictures)

Time to order more materials. Can I get you to work up a lamination schedule so I don't get myself in the weeds? :help: The original transom was 1 7/8" thick with the outer skin approx 3/8". I need to build up an inside skin and an outer skin where the outdrive hole is. I am real unclear o...
