Re: DF Marine plywood
Just my thoughts..... Any money you save with cheap wood is going to go right into buying more epoxy because cheap exterior ply seems to drink epoxy like its going out of style. future repairs due to cheap wood will add to the bill ( I'm fixing some damaged "cheap" ply right now ), in the ...

Re: GF16 modification -question ...
There is some extra re-enforcement over and around the bottom butt block and the outside of the hull is completely covered with glass, but other than that the hull is "stock". Adding a sole would be a good idea not only for the strength it would give but you could leave an open area at the...

Re: GF16 modification -question ...
yes exactly, its a seat pedestal right in the middle of where the bench used to be. I just remembered there is a difference between gf-14 and gf-16 construction also, butt blocks vs. fiberglass splice, i am guessing the butt block is a stronger joint.

Re: GF16 modification -question ...
I removed the mid seat from my GF-14 about 6 years ago and have not had any problems with it. I left 3 inches of frame on each side and nothing on the sole. I did have some flexing in the sides but I added 2 layers of 12oz biax to the rub rails and mounted a 12"x12" box (with a swivel seat...

Re: XF20 query
Glossieblack, I have the ezyglide stick on my GF-14 at the forward seat position, I do have to slow down when its choppy or I get beat up, works fine in calm water though. I thought it was going to be awkward pushing and pulling to go right or left but was surprised to find that it is very natural, ...

Re: Access holes in GF16 frames seats-how large?
I have been running a GF 14 with the center bench removed for about 6 years now, no problems. I originally built it with the center seat and ended up cutting it out, I left 3 inches of frame on the sides but cut the bottom flush. I built a small box and mounted a comfortable seat on it and epoxied-f...

Re: Help me decide which GF to build
The Harbor Freight trailer you mentioned is what i bought for my GF 14, it would fit a 12 foot boat much better, I wish i had just looked around for a used trailer instead. I also used the "cheaper" exterior grade ply, it just drinks up epoxy, ended up using way more than what was called f...
