Considering a DE23
I finished a FS14 almost two years ago and am currently considering a DE23. Questions: There is a note in the study plan about a closed transom version and using a bracket. Are you talking about a bolt on such as an Armstrong? Or do the plans include dimensions for an integral bracket that can be bu...

Re: Replacing pictures lost from Photobucket
Thank you for the information. I still have all my photos, they were just on Photobucket to use as third party hosting. Is there an edit function whereby I can go to my old post, remove the photobucket broken links, and replace with good links from another source. Or do I have to do a new post to ha...

Replacing pictures lost from Photobucket
I posted a number of pictures in the finished and launched section of this forum. My pictures were hosted on Photobucket and when they abruptly did away with their free photo hosting, those picture disappeared. Is there a way to add them back from another source. Does this forum have the space to ac...

Re: FS14 - July 27, 2016, Tupelo, MS
Thanks for the kind words. With regard to the woodwork, the rear deck hatch is Okoume ply with a solid teak border. Had to add the border to close the gap and neaten it up. It is the plan opening, if I had it to do all over, I would make it smaller. The sole grates are made from strips of teak with ...

FS14 - July 27, 2016, Tupelo, MS
Finished and launched. Runs great with a 9.9 four stroke. http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af200/brackish_photos/P1000958_zps0ifo6iky.jpg http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af200/brackish_photos/P1000960_zpsggck4k7p.jpg http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af200/brackish_photos/P1000955_zpsqpixkj...

Re: outboard mount reinforcing-FS14
Thanks. I think, if anything, I might put a couple of SS fender washers on the clamp screws and leave it at that. This boat transom above the casting deck is actually 3 @ 3/8", so 1-1/8" thick and with the glass mine measures just under 1-1/4". Looks like launch in April if the weathe...

outboard mount reinforcing-FS14
I'm finishing up my FS14 and am wondering what folks did if anything to reinforce the outboard mounting area. My transom is the design thickness at the motor mount area and it has been glassed all the way up both inside and out. I'm going to mount a 9.9 four stroke with 20" shaft, electric star...

Re: sanding for epoxy graphite
Thanks. One additional question. The recommended ratio's of graphite powder to epoxy resin, are they by weight or volume? I would think volume given the light weight of the powder, but thought I'd ask.

sanding for epoxy graphite
What is the appropriate final sand grit number before applying epoxy graphite? The substrate is coated with Interlux epoxy primecoat. There are a very few final fairing spots less than a couple of inches in diameter done with Quick Fair and I don't plan to do another coat of primer because of them. ...

FS14 skeg installation question
Getting ready to install the skeg on my FS14. The skeg is a piece of red oak. I'm faired and have several coats of an epoxy based primer (Interlux Epoxy PrimeKote) on the hull. Since the primer is epoxy based do I need to sand off the primer down to bare clear epoxy to attach the skeg or can I glue ...
