I would just tape off the console and spray another coat of paint with flattening agent mixed in.....not sure how uniform you can get something like that using a sanding technique.....usually, you go the other way with multiple steps of fine sanding to get it glossy....now you're trying to go backwa...

On the biax glass, would that be 0/90 or 45/45 that would be combined with the 0/90 carbon? I was thinking to do the same for the steps using the biax and carbon sleeve combination?

Its not boat related.....but I was looking to use these materials along with foam core to build a very light weight ladder system....4 interconnecting sections that will be 16' long. Standard fiberglass ladders are pretty heavy...need to reduce that weight by 50% if possible.

Joel/Jaques. given the same weight, ie say 12oz.....how does carbon fiber 0/90 compare to typical 12oz biax in terms of stiffness and strength? Twice as much for the same weight? 3 times? Also given that its black, how does one see if the material has been wet out properly since you can't see clear ...

To get under the V berth will take some work if you're not going to cut......the cap and helm area should be one piece, held in by the rub rail screws along the perimeter and some polyester putty....the inner liner which makes up your main fishing deck and v berth is glued to the tops of the stringe...

Don't sweat it. Each layer is only about a sixteenth of inch. Its not a problem.
