Re: FS18 CNC Build San Antonio Texas
You might consider Fine Lumber in Austin. They have a good supply of wood and might have meranti or okoume. From Schertz, its closer than Houston Hardwoods. I personally would stick with marine grade ply, it would stink to have a cheap plywood start to check on you especially around a stress point l...

Re: top-hat stringer reinforcement
It all depends on how good the bond is between those stringers and the hull. the bond is solid Play it safe by tabbing the stringers to the hull on each side with at least one layer of biaxial 12 oz. tape in epoxy. The tabbing must overlap the hull by at least 2". The outer portion of the top ...

Re: top-hat stringer reinforcement
What are we looking at? Is this the boat bottom plus a second skin that includes the top hat stringers? Was that second skin glassed to the hull in the factory or is it just sitting there? Is that the original glass and did you just clean the inside, removed the foam? This is the original glass. Th...

top-hat stringer reinforcement
In rebuilding my majek I will never have access to the inside of the stringers again. (I hope). http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/22827/image~22.jpg A somewhat local fiberglass repair shop owner said he has seen examples in the past of of a hull cracking. This occurs where the hull sits on ...

Re: Flipping A BayHawk
On the flip to work on the bottom, I used my neighbors tractor and 1 engine jack. On the reflip, I used 2 engine hoists that I rented from local rental place. 4 hours (1/2day rental) was $60 for both. Set up and flip took less than an hour solo. You could also use a tree and a come-along on one side...

Re: Majek 21 RFL rebuild
Thx for the welcome back. It is hot outside. I should have waited another 3 months before getting back into this. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/22827/image~21.jpg Transom glassed with 3 layers 1708 plus a 4th layer in the center. That stuff is a lot different than 12 oz biax. It was my ...
