AR 15 Centerboard Clearance

How much cleareance should there be between the centerboard and the case? Would 1/4" be enough? Or should it be less. While on the topic should I put fiberglass cloth on the sides of the centerboard? I was going to put tape along the leading edge and bottom for some abrasive resistance, but was...

If you are talking about the yellow ones, I use them all the time.

Re: repairing a snark

Tried roughing up the plastic with 60 grit then hit it with epoxy. It seems to be adhering like its supposed to. A neighbor gave this boat to a 15 yr old down the street and he asked if I can help him fix it. It's a snark mach II http://i.imgur.com/CoOUV.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3ku7d.jpg Would it wor...

Re: repairing a snark

Thanks for the reply.

Would hitting it with an 80 grit sanding disk be enough or should we take the grinder to it?

We will post a picture tomorrow, there is a pretty large hole in the boat where it rubbed aginst the sea wall during the winter.

Re: AR15 in Eastern NC

Just got done ordering more epoxy and some more 6 oz glass. I wish there was a way to recycle epoxy after you sand it off. I think I have sanded off 2 gal of the stuff. Have used about 4 gal in the build. Still trying to decide what to do with the centerboard weight. I have lead sheats that I have c...

Re: AR15 in Eastern NC

We taped and glassed the bottom. After everything was done I did not like the look of the glass at the tape lines. There were LOTS of small air bubbles. Pondered for a day or two and decided to sand them out. Ended up sanding all the seam lines through the glass to the tape. We have filled the holes...

Re: AR15 in Eastern NC

Had hoped to go sailing this morning, but the wind has not cooperated. Guess I will just have to sand instead! We flipped the boat over 2 weekends ago. Finished filling all the gaps, just waiting for some cooler weather to start glassing the outside. Still working on the Center board. My centerboard...

Re: AR15 in Eastern NC

It's been a while since my last post so I thought an update might be in order. We have finished taping all the frames. Have shaped the center board, and cut out the ply for the centerboard trunk and ruder. Hoping to flip the hull today and start on the outside. Now if it will cool off a little bit m...
