Re: OB 17 TECHNICAL Data for boat registration
Diego, wanted to let you know that the Sailboat Race is a virtual race many of us do on our computers. It is just a computer game. We will be in Punta Del Este only in spirit and online, it cost nothing to play and I think they probably have the game in Spanish. The version we have here is in Engli...

Re: OB 17 TECHNICAL Data for boat registration
Use the designed weight and, if necessary, adjust for whatever changes you may have done. I would say 865 Kg is average. For the freeboard, use the PPI. That means, for 2 passengers, use the Designed Water Line and measure up. You don't say if they want max. freeboard or minimum or in the middle. T...

Re: OB 17 TECHNICAL Data for boat registration
Diego you can provide the first two numbers yourself from the plans. Use the DWL at displacement weight for the freeboard(freeboard is the distance from the waterline to the gunnel) and measure it. For the height measure from the keel to the height of the gunnels. For the speeds Jacques will need t...

Re: OB 17 TECHNICAL Data for boat registration
Diego, I think Jaques has that information you need. That is a great looking build, in particular I like the stripe. Diego, I have to ask, is that a fishing for fish boat, or a fishing for Senoritas boat? That boat is to pretty to get fish blood on. GREAT JOB :!: :!: :!: In a few weeks we all...

Re: Should I sand the primer to remove orange peel?
In addition to above, try to match the speed of your thinner with the ambient temperature you are working in......also, are you sure its orange peel or just a poor wetout from some type of contamination underneath like wax or oil? You mentioned it was happening in some areas, not across the board??...

Re: Should I sand the primer to remove orange peel?
what primer are you using? generally we like to roll on the primer, it leaves a better surface and is easier to clean up. I will put 2 or 3 coats of primer on before sanding. I use a "guide coat" of spray paint/primer so that I do not sand too much primer off. you can see how the guide co...
