Re: I'm curious: main differences between EC24 and PC24

Understood, thanks for the reply. Since I think I would be using such a boat mostly alone or with my wife, the EC24 really is the best choice. A pair of captain chairs and a bench for the occasionnal guests should do it. On a side note, I have been debating which type of motorization to use: electri...

I'm curious: main differences between EC24 and PC24

Hello all, I already own the plans for the EC24 (and 3 others...) but I am curious about the differences between the EC24 and the PC24. Here are the differences I noticed from the specs: EC24 / PC24 Length: about the same Beam: about the same (8' to 10') Deck length: ~ 14' vs full length (24') Displ...

Re: EC24 - How "not for offshore" is it?

Thoughts are welcome (I am sure I'll get into what I want to do with the deck next) The deck layout has me spending a lot of thinking time too :) I am thinking of 2 comfortable captain seats, for me and my beloved, and a few benches with storage for the occasional guest. Also a porta-potty with pri...

Re: EC24 - How "not for offshore" is it?

Interesting questions and answers, I have been wondering about those too... I was thinking about the same thing for chase tubes in the hulls and under the deck; what are the differences / advantages / disadvantages between the flexible rigging sleeves and the rigid PVC conduits? For the sonar transd...

Re: Finally made up my mind.

Hi all. After thinking over and over about my "needs", I decided that the main specifications for me to select a boat design were efficiency and comfort. Efficiency: I do not like spending too much money on fuel. Fuel efficiency is therefore a must. Comfort: I've learned with bicycling, ka...

Re: Me too looking at plans and me too not able to choose :)

I live on the north shore in the Montreal area. Here's the Google Map of the area: https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Bois-des-Filion,+QC/@45.5711461,-73.5259347,9.5z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x4cc8d8856014cfb5:0xc93b872b31fc7f9a As you can see, there are many rivers to "discover" in the region: Rivi...

Re: Me too looking at plans and me too not able to choose :)

To go from the CK17 to the GP21 covers a lot of ground. I like all those boats but you have to accept that you will not get all the qualities of each combined in one boat. You must make choices: sail or power? Size and capacity, budget. Hi Jacques, thanks for your reply. Oh yes, I totally agree wit...

Me too looking at plans and me too not able to choose :)

Hi all, I thought I could share my current thought process, some people might have good suggestions. A few years ago I built a small PK78 and I liked the building experience. It was fun to row and sail (although small) but I wanted more room so I purchased the plans for the CK17. Which I built... in...

Re: CK17 with small cuddy cabin ?

Nice picture, I have been thinking about a tent as well. But whether made of wood or canvas, changes to the forward structure would be required to have sufficient height under the roof, at least to be able to sit. It would probably be better to build as designed and if a cabin is needed, build anoth...
