John, Thanks for the response, good luck with your project. I've actually deviated from my plans a little, am building a GF12 right now to do some fishing with the kids this summer, then the plan is to start on the VG18... As for your other questions: Have you decided on a mast yet? No, I'd like to ...

GF12 Questions
Got my GF12 plans the other day, very nice, will be starting this weekend. One question: the plans and study plans list 1/4 and 1/2 inch ply, and the study plans for the FG14 list 1/4 and 1/2 inch, but the update on the website lists 3/8's instead of 1/2 inch for the GF14. http://bateau2.com/content...

Justin, Thank you very much for the kind offer, I was hoping you'd volunteer ;-) If you remember me, I'm the guy from the Cruiser Challange in Monterey with the Bolger Micro. I've since sold the Micro to a woman from Seattle, and I'm looking for another project :P I'm sure I'll be picking you brain ...

Jacques, Thanks, that helps alot. I'm relatively new to sloops and still a relatively novice sailor, so don't have the confidence to spec my sails, but I've got some time before that's really in the critical path. How many other designers would spec a new sail in the time it takes me to get to work?...

Jacques, Thanks for the quick reply, as always. Some clarification needed (maybe I'm just not awake yet!) 1. It is not tortured. That surface is a section of a cone and that is why there is camber there. If you cut it straight it will not fit. Excellent... 2. You can do that and do not need a drawin...

VG18 Questions
Jacques, I received my VG18 plans, very nice. I do have a few questions that I haven't seen covered in these forums. 1) Curved frames - on frames B, C, and maybe D (don't have the plans in front of me right now), there is a curve in the chine panel section of the frames. This, in my mind, is an atte...

Durabak
Neat looking stuff: Question from a lazy builder  : Any reason to not coat the entire topsides with this stuff, leaving the nicely finished paint for the boat sides? Seems like it would provide a nice, easily applied finish that's resistant to sun, non-skid, and would not require perfect surfa...

Jacques, As a very likely builder of an 18' sports boat, a couple of thoughts. The foam core sounds pretty good, and as a second project, it think it's within the skills of most builders. But the foam prices I've seen are astronomical! Any way around that? I've considered building a Waller TS5.4 in ...
