Re: OD 18 Trolling Motor?

Go for the 24 volt motor ,you won't be sorry. I have the 24v,80 lb. thrust on my XF 20. Plenty of power to spare.

Re: EF 20 Prop recommendation

I think a 4 blade prop will give better bite . I am running a 13x12 pfsr4 triple cup prop. This boat is not a speed demon with 70 hp. I hope you will have a water pressure gauge so you can insure proper cooling.

Re: Extreme Flats 20 Problems

A tunnel extension is a great idea but first the motor has to be mounted in the right position. It looks to me that the motor/jackplate is mounted 4 inches too low. Once proper position is accomplished, the problem will go away.

Re: Extreme Flats 20 Problems

Since you already have your jackplate and motor hung , the actual measurement is not important. What is important is that no part of the motor mounting plate or jackplate is lower than the top of the tunnel. I think you should start with the motor cavitation plate about 1 inch above the top of the t...

Re: Extreme Flats 20 Problems

From what I could see from the gallery pictures, the jackplate/engine mounting plate are scooping water into the boat when you lower the jackplate. I'm running a Powertech triple cup ,four blade prop and it doesn't cavitate.

Re: Extreme Flats 20 Problems

Where is the cavitation plate in relation to the top of the tunnel. The picture isn't very clear but it looks like the motor is mounted way too low. I had to raise my transom about a foot higher than yours to get the correct motor height.

Re: High Thrust Motors on Tunnel Hulls

The video that you viewed was likely of my boat . I built the tunnel per Jacques plans. It performs well but other types might be a little more efficient. I only make short runs so it doesn't matter. With a 13x13 triple cup prop I get 28 mph at WOT with the tunnel vent open. I'm running a 70 Yammi 2...

Re: High Thrust Motors on Tunnel Hulls

I built a basic XF20 and used a Bobs 6 inch setback jackplate. It is powered by an old but good 70 Yamaha 2-stroke. The water from the tunnel drops off before contacting the motor so I would recommend as little setback as you can get.I use a Powertech 13"x12' triple cup prop and it grips well.

Re: Holes for Self-Draining Cockpit

It is a bit challenging to get the 12 inch party balloons to stay in the hole but with a little practice ,its fast and easy, I used 12 oz. biax rolled up and saturated with a ketchup like mix of epoxy and wood flour. I like how the large balloons conform to the outer part of the hole. You need an ai...
