Re: Flooding in Steinhatchee

I was in Steinhatchee yesterday. The amount of water was ridiculous. We were checking on a friend's house. Had to cross through an area of road that was flooded by fast water. Their house was OK at that point, but the water was still rising with more heavy rain on the way. God bless the folks living...

Re: Repton's GF16

I understand. Thank you for your response.
The 18 is too big for my needs.
I already have the GF16 plans. I have been looking for ideas that might help me decide what I want to try to build.

Re: Repton's GF16

I like it.
I want something similar, with gunnels and a sole.

Re: Bruce Crandall Flyer Hydroplane

The original photos showed the boat equipped with the Ford 8BA series flathead V-8.
Properly built, you could get 130 or more HP out of one.

Re: IRMA

Fortunately for me, Irma passed south of Key Largo. Not so good for those folks. Key Largo still took a beating. Oceanside got hammered. Not so much for us on the bay side. Storm surge came in but wasn't enough to lift the boat off of the lift or flood the house. Blessed. Big mess to clean up, minor...

Re: IRMA

I prepared the house in Key Largo and will be staying with friends in Homestead.
I will lose the SeaVee for sure, as it is on a lift. Just hoping I have a house to go home to. I built it well but with a storm like this, who knows.

Re: Bruce Crandall Flyer Hydroplane

215 is the cubic inches. Horsepower is likely less.
A fresh water cooled engine uses a heat exchanger cooled by seawater. It will require a pickup through the hull.

Re: MILESTONES? Oh hell yea.

Just about everybody will develop a bundle branch block and/or a 1st degree AV heart block in their lifetime. When the doctor begins talking about 2nd or 3rd degree heart block- that is another issue. These require a pacemaker ASAP. The good news is that if you had either of the last two, you would ...

Re: 25 Sea Vee Inboard cap recore

OK. SeaVees are rather notorious for this. I have seen rod holders ripped out of the gunnels while wire line fishing for grouper here in the Keys. I would follow Jacques' advice. I have the exact same boat you have and that is what I would do with mine. I have also seen a friend attach huge aluminum...
