Laszlo thanks for the picture help.

Carbon fiber ....hmm...something to consider. I would probably have to do the whole sprit, since (as Charlie observed) it's a butt joint (in fact, one of several). Guess I'll think about this a bit.

Thanks guys for the input

My SH14 split a sprit

(I've been trying to get this picture in here but with no success, so I'll just put the link in) http://gallery.bateau2.com/displayimage.php?pos=-13580 We had just taken the boat out of the water (the mast was still up and the brail line had the sprit and the sail gathered up to the mast) and I was ...

Very nice Kurt. Your pics make me want to give sailmaking a try. I agree with Jeremy: I like having a brail line on my sharpie....it has 'saved my bacon' several times

Hi Troy, Just wondering how deep do you drop your board? At first, I tried experimenting with dropping the centerboard on my sharpie to almost vertical and noticed unwelcome 'clunking' sounds (the board moving around from all that pressure on it). I quickly realized that it wasn't necessary to drop ...

And not just boatbuilding mods!
I recently repaired a bed frame for my daughter with the left over epoxy/wood flour from my build.
Kids jumped on the bed and split the side full length!
Enter grandpa with boat glue...
Clamp it up,
Better than new! :D

I also used S3 white primer under Camano Red on my boat (roll and tip) and I also had problems with it not covering the way I expected. You didn't say how many subsequent coats of red you used, but I wasn't satisfied with the result (i.e....blotchyness gone) until the 7th coat.
