Re: GT 27 - Bow/Stern Transom frame positioning

For the transom: the plans show the distance to station 7, the height at the keel is the same than station 7. For the bow, we show the distance but not the height. We could have shown it but builders did what Ormet1 does: install the side panels and then line up the "ends" with the side p...

GT 27 - Bow/Stern Transom frame positioning

To Jacques, or anyone else involved in the GT27 build - When mounting stations on a strongback, every station EXCEPT the bow and stern transom have the distance to the Baseline specified on the plans. (Metric Drawing D260/4) I cant assume the bottom of the Stern Transom is the same as the preceding ...

(Metric Drawing D260/4) How do I calculate the height in relation to the Bow and Stern Transom from...

Re: Richards gt 27

Excellent link there Daddy. I have never seen those sorts of pods for sale in Australia as such, but I bet it wont be long before they become available. I didnt ask for a quote, but I suspect I will be able to add a pod at a fair bit less than those ones (fingers crossed) By the statistics in the br...

Re: Richards gt 27

I hear what you say there, R, but I am a bit confused. The design description says is " At a displacement of 5,000 lbs, a 90 HP will bring her to plane with max. 25 mph in calm waters. If you want her to plane regularly, a 125 HP or more is recommended." Maximum HP on the plans 'as is' is ...

Re: Richards gt 27

Good to hear you are on the mend over there. Thanks for the tips - I will make sure to note them. I dont think the egg crate idea is great on this boat. i will set up a jig and make sure everything is square, and cut the cross beams in half to separate the stringers. If we need to do 200mm stringers...

Re: Richards gt 27

Bad news about your back. So many boat projects get slowed by health problems. Hope its better soon. I am in Melbourne at the moment, but will be in Tasmania within two months, where I need to organise a shed and all that stuff. I have been following your questions with interest, and you picked up a...

Re: Richards gt 27 - me too!

Just bought the plans for a GT27 (metric Version). I aim to have it finished in 6 months.

I thought the sheet showing the panel nesting could do with a lot of improvement. Did you have to have a think about that very much ?
