I have the rubber flap scuppers, and they prevent back wash. but they still let water in. I have seen the ball scuppers, I just wasnt sure how well they worked. I have the OD 16 with the same problem. I use the ball type scuppers and they work pretty well. I usually reach over the transom and put p...

Bermudian, I also have an OD 16 with an E-tec 50. What prop are you using? I can't seem to get above 30mph. Not really interested in top speed just looking for a faster cruise.
Thanks,

PatrickO, I have the OD16 and had the same problem. I added the Bennett MD-80 trim tabs for about $350 and it made a huge difference. I definately recomend them.

Go with the M80 trim tabs. I put a pair on my OD16 and it is a completely different boat with them on (for the better).

Cutting Rub Rail

I am installing the rub rail on my OD16 and was wondering how to make a clean cut. It is the thick black flexible rubber rubrail. What would be the best tool / method to use.

thanks,

Re: OD16/18 trim tabs

Has anybody installed trim tabs on the OD 16 / 18. I did a search on the site and could not find anybody who has installed them. The boat seems to porpoise (sp.) when you begin to go over 25mph. If anybody has installed them please let me know what type and if it has helped. Thanks, Anflyer Flyer, ...

Just be aware, the 4 stroke is going to add weight on the tail -- a 40 could add as much as 50 lbs. The boat is said to be "weight distribution sensative." Think about battery, bait tanks and gas forward and do some math on the load distribution before you finalize your plan. The E-tec 50...

Plumbertuck, if you are keeping the weight down the 40hp should be more than enough. I went with the 50hp Evinrude e-tec since I knew my hull would be heavier that what jacques originally designed (I added wide gunwhales, larger console, amatuer building tecniques that add more weight than an experi...
