Caravelle long shaft or short shaft motor
I have built an FL-14. I would like a sailboat and I am planning on the Caravelle next. I was thinking it would be real nice to have one of those Honda 2hp four-stroke engines to use on both boats. It is comes in 15” length and 20” length. The 15” would work ok on the FL-14, but if the Caravelle wou...

check out the prices on the Meranti BS6566 at http://plywood.e-boat.net/index.php . I think it is cheaper than what I paid for marine fir plywood locally on my FL-14. I am seriously considering building the Caravelle next. I plan on using Meranti BS1088 but if I start pinching pennies I would use th...

I finally found the best deal at my local boat dealer. They had the size I needed in stock with 12” wheels, galvanized and set up t...

A Missouri FL14 is completed!!
I am finished building my FL14. :D I took her to the lake this Sunday and she worked great. Rowed great, & was easily propelled with a 34lb thrust trolling motor. She also just skimmed the surface, very shallow draft. :D It is a very good feeling, building and launching your own boat! I posted a...

That is a great looking boat! Good job! I've painted the outside of my FL14 and will paint the inside this week. I am going to put in her in the water the first week of April. These are such great designs, that I am already planning my second boat before my first boat is wet! Isn't that sick or what...

Solid Edge works good as far as the solid modeling, but it is not very good at all when you have to put your ideas on to paper! I am a Draftsman so I have a preference to Autocad, which is much easier to create more professional drawings (in my opinion). If I was wanting to make my final drawings l...
