Re: Mangusta 20 - New builder

Before I forget, for any builders out there building the MG20, for recreational use, its simply got to have a windshield.. Went out yesterday, and in moderate chop, got absolutely soaked to the bone! Definitely class myself as an old salty now!

Re: How do I get a boat off a trailer?

I do this frequently. you need to wind the jockey wheel down as far as it will go, so the back of the boat is pointing up. Support the raised back of the boat with a chock system and jacks under the keel. two stout V shaped supports can be easily made from 2*4 timber. Ensure these are made sturdily,...

Re: Mangusta 20 - New builder

Yes, still got the boat, although will shortly go up for sale performance wise, no complains. I did have to add auto trip tabs; the 200hp block I put on there pulled the back down quite a bit, and at harbour speeds, had to stand up to steer! I always planned to put on a visor, just never got around ...

Re: Mangusta 20 - New builder

Hi Lee. I tried to detail the making process above, but heres some more detail I cant remember the exact dimensions, but its easy to determine these measurements from the bottom angle at the transom. When calculating size, I assumed a slight negative angle on the planing surface of the strake, i.e. ...

Re: Mangusta 20 down under - Which plywood ?

My 2 cents worth... 4mm will give you a REAL headache when fairing, it will not follow contours as neatly as 7mm.

Re: Mangusta 20 - New builder

Now heres one thread I cant resist.. :D Strakes, matter of opinion really. Mine worked out just perfect, but were a pig to fabricate (only because I am a bit of a perfectionist and they HAD to look just right. Wonky or fat looking strakes would ruin the whole look, no matter how pretty you make your...

Re: Serious help needed with epoxy

Two questions: * Have you inadvertently been supplied with RAPID hardner? You can get various 'speeds'. * Can you use wider mixing pots? I found a source for these, and they are stronger, and can be used many times. Simply allow to cure, and with warm water, peel the unused epoxy out. The small plas...

Re: Anyone Fishing?

I ran into this problem a long while back. Tried everything; this is a very good online fileshare service I have found. 2GB free limit, you can easily control the sharing of files to subscribed users.

Re: HOT TO build the "flow lines" on the bottom?

I rough ripped mine out of Durian hardwood on a tableSaw, then finalled them with a Table Planer, cant remember the angle ratio exactly (think its about 2.5cm by 8cm) Use a poly pipe or similar to mark out your curves, if you want the more 'curvy' look. Some people simply glue them of straight. the ...
