Re: Prepping to fill the weave with System 3?

One thing to consider is filling the weave with epoxy and the fairing additive. I've used a lot of quickfair and after a year or so it shrinks and exposes the weave. I have three boats like this and wish I would have used the quickfair to do small areas, the boats would look better.

Re: TX 18 EXTRA FUEL

Prairie Dog, you might want to look into the Yamaha command link plus for real time fuel consumption prior to adding to much tank. Switching to a 4 bladed prop for just such trips is another idea. For example on my boat with a heavy load my fuel economy increased with a 4 bladed prop at 3600 rpm (s...

Re: TX 18 EXTRA FUEL

[quote="Prarie Dog Thanks for the insight on your boat Larry but a flat bottom probably runs a lot more free than this big air trap. Paul the TX is designed to run on the edges of the two v-hulls and the last portion of the flat making it very efficient and comfortable for long runs in your ne...

Re: TX 18 EXTRA FUEL

Hi Will, good to see you're still on the forum. Tom thanks for the info. Jaques, I do understand the difference between cruise and full throttle consumption. Thats why in my last paragraph I used 7gph for that calculation. The reasoning is that it's likely this hull will need something like 70hp to ...

Re: TX 18 EXTRA FUEL

I've heard the F90 is a stingy on fuel motor but the fact is it takes about 10 gallons of fuel per hour to make 100hp per hour. That works on gasoline engines mounted on boats, airplanes and automobiles. So lets go with 9 on a F90 for planning purposes to plug in the program for a TX18. This boat is...

Re: TX 18 EXTRA FUEL

Paul, I'm 100% positive you are qualified enough to tackle that center console  Short of bringing along an extra portable can of gas, I'm not sure where else you could add a tank without ripping up the floor... Great to hear T is getting ready to for college, I am sure he will do great :D You...

Re: TX 18 EXTRA FUEL

PD I looked at the Performance Bulletins for the YammI 90. With the 14 gallon tank you have now and if you could add a 20 gallon tank for a total of 34G this would give you a range of 180 miles without any safety factor, maybe 120 with. Of course this depends on you being able to tie the two tanks ...

Re: TX 18 EXTRA FUEL

Hi Richard, this is Brother Dave's boat, he has a passell of grandkids and needed a barge to haul them around in, too easy for little kids to fall out of the TX18. We thought about changing the center console but he has a tank in the front of it that's plumbed and works fine the Tee Top and all that...
