Shine speaks the truth!! I had a small porpoising problem with my PH18 when I first launched it. I posted a few questions and pictures of the transom. Someone commented that my edge was not sharp enough. I didn't want to fix it at the time so I ended up buying smart tabs instead. They worked ok, but...

here are a couple of other reasons to build vs. buy. 1) I launched my PH18 a couple of weeks ago on a pond with less than 1 foot of water at the launch. The guy I usually go with has a bass boat that drafts more than a foot. We wouldn't have been fishing if we took his boat. 2) No need for a big V8 ...

I installed my 20 gal tank under the casting deck on my PH18. I had to lower the sole between the two inner stringers so that I'd have enough room for the fuel fill hose. This image was taken before I finished the compartment. I also added sides to separate the tank compartment from the side lockers...

are you planning to cover the epoxy with something that has UV protection? I think the regs make sense for production boats, but for these boats, they don't seem like it's worth it to go to the trouble of burning etc. It wouldn't take much to sand the area, apply wood putty, fair, paint and register...
