Shine speaks the truth!! I had a small porpoising problem with my PH18 when I first launched it. I posted a few questions and pictures of the transom. Someone commented that my edge was not sharp enough. I didn't want to fix it at the time so I ended up buying smart tabs instead. They worked ok, but...

Shannon,

I built the PH18 as my first boat (haven't started my second one yet). While I'm very happy with my boat, I probably should have built another one first for practice. I made a few mistakes I wish weren't on my ph18.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I do trust you. I take my family out in my PH18 and we love every minute of it. :D

Thanks for bearing with me and others that ask these type of questions.

maybe someday. its a boat we get requests for very often. The reality is that a "CS28" will cost 2x as much as a CS23 to build - that normally scares people off. Shine and others, please don't be offended by this post. I, and probably others, are wondering why it's so much more to build a...

here are a couple of other reasons to build vs. buy. 1) I launched my PH18 a couple of weeks ago on a pond with less than 1 foot of water at the launch. The guy I usually go with has a bass boat that drafts more than a foot. We wouldn't have been fishing if we took his boat. 2) No need for a big V8 ...

For my ph18, I glassed the hull, then glued the clamping board to it, then covered the clamping board with with glass (overlapping the hull 6"). I tapered the bottom edge of the clamping board so that glassing would be easier. It has held up well even with a 115hp. I wish I could say the same f...

I installed my 20 gal tank under the casting deck on my PH18. I had to lower the sole between the two inner stringers so that I'd have enough room for the fuel fill hose. This image was taken before I finished the compartment. I also added sides to separate the tank compartment from the side lockers...

are you planning to cover the epoxy with something that has UV protection? I think the regs make sense for production boats, but for these boats, they don't seem like it's worth it to go to the trouble of burning etc. It wouldn't take much to sand the area, apply wood putty, fair, paint and register...
