Thanks for the tips on the runners. They will work much better than the skeg. I used screws quite a bit, during construction. Found some nice, inexpensive , glue injection bottles & plan to fill all "hull holes" at the same time. Guess I didn't add enough sarcasim on the 3-4 day build ...

My FL14 is almost there! I need to ; Install knees, complete mid seat & transom seat, sand & finish. I found a 3HP Yamaha "used for 1hr" for less than 1/2 the retail price. Been looking in papers ect. for a motor, since the start of project. They are hard to find, good ones. I comp...

Finishing FL14 ???s

My FL14 is stiched together & ready for seams. There is alot of info. here on that process & I am comfortable starting/doing that. This is my first boat & I have worked on small wood projects in the past. I painted a few times, when I had to. I need some input on the following process; 1...

FL14 drainage

Can't stand the thought of a boat with no drainage from the front to the back! I will do the Foam option. Thinking about this; Prior to seat top install, cut 3/4" holes in mid seat frames (low & at each side, near chine). Install PVC pipe from bow frame to stern frame. Then I can still fill...

I went with Okuome BS1088. This is some nice plywood! Won't need much sanding. 12 Hrs Total on the boat, so far. Cut out & stiched together. Waiting for the "Kit" to arrive, need the glass tape. Found a local woodshop that stocks full line of SYSTEM 3 products, but no tape. All looks g...

FL14 outside chine ?

If I scribe the bottom, from the assembled sides, do it from the inside or outside of the sides & transom.
If I scribe/cut to the outside, there will not be a gap for fillet (outer) & will make a sharp edge, if not rounded.
Did I answer my own question?

Thanks, Second question (Offset). Just knew I didn't want the side & bottom panel seams to be at the same place in the hull. Won't be an issue. This will be the first boat I build( third boat, at the dock.) I have read & understand the use of exterior Ply. for the FL14. I also know that hair...

New FL14

Just got FL14 plans & did quick review (Hrs). Didn't see a specific location for the bottom panel seam (Butt Lock Center). Is there a specific location? If Butt Locks run flush to edge of side/bottom panels, then bottm & side seams must offset min. of 8", right? Any common dumb mistakes...
