Charlie,

I'ts very similar to a sunfish rig, but much smaller. Sunfish carry 75 sf of sail - this unit is about 35 sf. It's from a boat that's very similar to a sailfish, but only about 9 ft. long.

PK78 Spashed

Hi Everyone, Haven't been on the board in a long time; hope all of my friends are doing well. We splashed Alex's (now 12) PK78 recently, and I thought I'd provide some pics & commentary. Alex just finished a week of sailing camp at Mystic Seaport, CT, and I wanted him to have his own sailing din...

Hi Jeff, I finished my Otter 16 in June of this year. I'll send pics shortly, but in the meantime, make sure to view the error correction posted by Jacques. The panels in your version of the plans are indentified incorrectly. The chine panel should be the top panel & vice versa. I think this wil...

Possible Otter Mods?

Jacques/Joel, Just finished my OT-16; a really beautiful design. My congratulations. I'm wondering how feasable it would be to increase the beam by 6-8" or so and add a jib. That would make it perfect for a family of 2 adults & 2 small kids. Might make it a little tougher to row. Love to he...

I don't know where I saw it, but I thought the strop was the length of rope tied between the aft seat frames to hold the main sheet. There's a ring that passes through it. I think you already answered my question though. A knot. I have to confess that my know knowledge is knot good (sorry). I just p...

OT16 - Attaching Halyard Main to Yard

I'm trying to understand how to attach the halyard main to the yard. The plans & instructions say to secure with a knot. But wouldn't a knot slip along the yard? Do I need to cut a channel into the halyard to hold the line secure? Could I possibly drill a hole in the yard & run the line thro...
