Hello Tom, good to see you're still at it. I'm still using that box of sandpaper you gave me so long ago.

Hello, I'm Back
Hi all! I used to be pretty active on the forum and built a couple of canoes. However, life got in the way as it sometimes will and I stopped working on my projects. Well, I recently retired and I am starting them back. I have a canoe to finish and then I can start on the Sharpie 14 plans that I hav...

Re: 2 missing 14yo boys on 19'cc
This is so sad for their families as there will not be any closure for a long time if ever. It's also sad for children every where as the helicopter parents will just hover that closer to their children. Teenagers need their freedom, the tricky part is just how much. On a similar, but much happier n...

Re: A Cracker Built GF18- Splashed 2-14-15
Condolences to everyone involved. It's always hard to lose a close friend or family member. However, what a great way to go, under the open sky doing something you love. That sure beats a hospital bed hooked up to machines. That has got to be the one of the greatest send offs ever. You are all lucky...

Madisonville, La Wooden Boat Festival
Any one going to the Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival this Weekend? We are planning on going over Saturday. Would be glad to meet up for a little face to face visit with other inhabitants of the Bateau BB.

Re: CH14 metric dimensions and materials issues
I went back and looked at some of my plans. Looking at the panel designated a-b, the only dimension I can see that is possibly missing would be on the top from 1830 to the end. On c- d just make the marks on the lines shown. There is at least a 10mm margin for error. You have to fill in all of the p...

Article in Slate by Diane Selkirk
There is a wonderful article in Slate.com by Diane Selkirk, who is Evan's wife, on cruising with kids. It is in response to what happened to the family that had to be rescued with the sick child.

Re: Sandply for cheap canoe?
Sandeply is made in south America from plantation grown Norfolk pine. It is much better quality than most local made ply wood. I'm building cheap canoe from it my self. I would just say you're building a cheap canoe. The plywood is not so crucial as when building a planing boat. I built one with che...
