You can't get to 50 mph in a boat without spending a lot in gas and boat cost. A 20 mph boat that cost little to build, uses very little gas and looks great is a good compromise. Maybe a homebuilt ultralite aircraft is the answer? Of course that negates the possibility of stopping to fish if ...

Am I right in assuming this is not just for starting, but running your electronics and maybe even your trolling motor too? If it's for starting only then don't bother reading this post. Having used mid-price Wal-Mart and such deep cycle batteries in the past, I steer clear of them now. I've never go...

I put them on a Honda 5hp pushing my canoe and it really made a positive difference in trimming out and handling. It also gave me quite a bit more speed, in the range of 25% more. Of all the hydrofoil fins out there, and I tried three different types, the Doel Fin seems the best for small outboards....

Is it still a V-10???
 I dunno!!! Maybe build a tunnel on it, and maybe even some sponsons. Really beef up the transom and overpower the heck out of it. Call it a "V-10X" and see what kind of damage you can do with it without killing yourself. Methinks you could really get a rise out of Jaques that way, as...

I went fishing off point judith RI on Saturday. A friend of mine has a 33' WorldCat, twin Suzuki 250's and every electronic device known to man. What a rig! My boat is going to feel pretty small after being in that boat. We caught a nice assortment of fish; stripers, blues, fluke and black sea bass...

Re: Anyone notice this???
It is me, or that ship seriously listing??? Having sailed the Persian Gulf quite a bit, but long before it became fashionable, I can tell you that listing in the coastal dry cargo carriers is not that unusual there (though not normally to the extent seen in that picture). Proper cargo/weight distri...

I was going to buy a Tohatsu for my flats skiff, but got a deal on a Mercury 4 stroke I couldn't refuse 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O Hmmmm, methinks, under all that Mercury paint , you'll find a Y amaha lurking  Don't get me wrong, the later model year Yamaha motors are pretty much the equal of anything you...
