My primary concern in building the current boat is: Father and nephew both of whom have balance and mobility problems, particularly my nephew. I have narrowed my requirements down a bit: There needs to be a enough room for a swivel seat, stability is important, some wind protection, layout, and sing...

It's Not the accent.
It is just and older form of english. Think of it as a different alphabet, No "R". We have Ahh instead. Regional dialect.

Hard Fillers
Since everyone seems to like Graphite and Boron Nitride how about Beed blasting media. It comes in many different grits and even natural materials, walnut shells. Colors vary quite a bit, usually many shades of grey or brown. I have used glass bead media and it is extremely tough.

JimMac,
I would be interested in looking at your boats. I am an hour drive away. Are you also building the FS 17? Am considering the FS for a number of reason but would like to see one that is completed or in progess.

OD16 HP
RaeB,
OD 16 go with 40HP Mine is a bit underpowered at 25HP. Does well on a calm day with 2 people. Has some trouble in a strong current with three people. Other than that I love the boat.

Paints
Tom, I hope some of the more experienced people will chime in here. Yes, I believe you are right about the gel coat, color is mixed in when prepped. I think most production boats start with a female mold so gel coat, glass, resin, more glass.... See the description in the tutorials on how these boat...

Choosing a boat
Thanks for the replies everyone. I have thought about various boats and have started asking about a few. A 17 Mako, a 19 Mako, and a 19 Robalo. The Mako 17 and Robalo 19 are about the same year, 1984/5. the 19 Mako is much older, 1970. Could I have some basic info on these boats? Weight and horse po...
