Glass and foam?
I'm looking at building a cooler to use in my boat to hold fish, and I was wondering if I can use fiberglass and epoxy over the foam insulation sheets sold at big box stores. I am hoping that I can use a layer or two of six-ounce glass to cover the foam. Will fiberglass peel off the foam? What if I ...

Re: Bow mount motor on GF 16
Thanks, Peewee-- that worked but I h ad to downoad Chrome--but work did suffer a bit from reviewing Notes' thread. The only problem is that my idea of a pretty basic, simple, easy boat build may be shot in the foot. I keep seeing things Noles did that make me think I should do as well. Sigh. I'll st...

Re: Bow mount motor on GF 16
Thanks for the replies. I was hoping there might be someone on here who has done that (so I could steal their idea of the mount), but it shouldn't be difficult to come up with something later. Noles-- your build was one that really started me thinking that the GF16 might be a good fit. Your build wa...

Bow mount motor on GF 16
I'm about ready to pull the pin on building a GF16 and am working on whether or not it is really going to work for me. I've pretty much rationalized the hull design, but I have a question on using a bow mount trolling motor. Has anyone else done this? Are there images anywhere? I've searched, but th...

Info on pram build
Hi-- I have an magazine assignment to build a pram, and while the plans here are traditional, what I will be building isn't. The boat needs to be eight feet or so and have a flat bottom, along the lines of the GF12 but 2/3 the size. The reason for the bottom is that the boat will be used primarily f...

On my Mac, all I need do is export the file as a PDF. That prompt is found under the File menu on Safari. Hope that helps.

Re: Forum software Update
I had weird issue this morning. When I accessed the site from my laptop, The forum came up, but there were little circles of scrolling type across the board and down each subforurm. This was on a Mac Pro on Safari. Now, on my desktop, everything seems to work well. However, in the past few weeks, I'...

Re: Stitch and Glue Pedal Boat
There are other options for the drive-- at least two kayak manufacturers are now selling pedal-driven units that use what looks like an electric trolling motor lower unit/prop system. Old Town is one...saw the new boats at the fishing tackle trade show a couple of weeks back. Of course, they may not...

Re: 1964 Seaswirl Restoration
For use in the Sound--yeah, it will be adequate most of the time. Like any boat, you have to watch the weather and know when not to be on the water. It will be a pretty good boat for most of Washington saltwater, including the Strait if you want to trailer out to Sekiu to fish--even Neah Bay if you'...

Re: 1964 Seaswirl Restoration
It looks a lot like the P14 hull, but the ones I'm familiar with were mooching boats and weren't fitted out that way. It will be a fun boat on the Sound, regardless.
