Re: CS 25 Build North Carolina

JK, I have followed this forum for six years but rarely post, however after reading this thread I feel compelled to. What some people posted here was embarrassing and I've never seen anything like it on this site. I just want to reiterate what others have already told you, that 99% of the people her...

Not sure about Copro, but I'm fairly positive my issue is not due to flex. the flat bottom/floor of my boat between the rear and middle seat flexes significantly (by design I'm sure), and the paint in this area is perfect inside and out.

Shop Vac vs. Dust Collector

Hey guys, I'm constantly clogging the relatively small shop-vac filter with sanding dust...and wondering if there is a better way. Anyone have any experience with a small dust collector like this one: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94029 It has a 35micron bag...but ...

Copro, do you mean new spots keep popping up? Or the areas previously sanded and re-painted keep coming back?

When you spot sanded, how far down did you go? To primer or down to fairing compound?

Thanks.

Wow, nice job!
Do you know how they powered the boat? I can't tell in that one picture if it's just not powered yet, or if they went with an inboard......just curious!

Anchy, thanks for the input. I don't remember exactly what I wiped the boat down with prior to primer/paint as it was a couple of years ago. I hope this in not the case because I really don't want to have to sand all the way to fairing compound in order to repaint! I was hoping to just sand the topc...

The boat is in NJ. One more thing to mention, I have a layer of biax cloth up the sides all the way to the rubrails. So the areas of affected paint are plywood/glass/fairing/primer/paint. Not just ply/prime/paint. I'll let you guys know what I find...probably in about a month from now. Thanks again!

Thanks for taking the time to talk to S3, Shine. When I first noticed the lines, I had a fleeting panic that it was due to flexing. But after further inspection, the lines are all over and don't change in appearance between very stout areas of the boat, and more flexible larger panels. It is curious...

E, definately a possibility on the primer. Although I did wait about 2.5weeks between primer and topcoat, also the symptoms didn't show up for a couple of months, (I used the boat from aug to nov). I wonder if the shrinking primer put the topcoat in tension, and it took the cold weather to make it g...

S3 LPU Paint Checking?

Maybe some of you guys can shed some light on this paint scratch/checking situation on the sides and bottom of my GF-14. A little backround info...the boat is Okoume, Marinepoxy, S3-WR Primer (the old kind), and S3 LPU Topcoat. The primer was rolled on...maybe 3 coats. The LPU was sprayed, with cros...
