Re: Power Tools for First time builder.
Agree with most of the above plus one addition: - some kind of power saw. I found a circular saw to be faster than a jigsaw. The circular saw that I used was a 30 year old 7" craftsman. That actual saw doesn't matter much. What does matter? A circular saw that allows one to adjust the cutting d...

Re: Here is WHY you use good plywood!!!
Thanks for posting this. It is a good example of "checking". People often ask what this is and it is tough to visualize without seeing it. Once people see it, they recognize it immediately. Best practices based on this example: - Use a BS1088 stamped ply for your boat even if you have to o...

Re: DE 25 Performance #s
A beautiful boat. Well done! This is one of those posts that reminds us of the great benefit of these designs. Where else do you see a 25' boat of that style running those numbers with a 115hp engine???? Given the forecast for fuel prices later this year, this a huge benefit of these designs. The ru...

Re: 6HP design
My main concern is profit. The cheapest and easiest seems to be the FL12 as sitandfish mentioned. The FS12 Looks like it will be faster but more money to build. How fast can a 6hp go anyway? I'll have to figure how much more the fl14 will be to make. Maybe bigger will sell quicker and sharpen my bo...

Re: easy or what
One boat I built was from plans/patterns purchased from a competitor. Measuring and marking following the instructions from this site is a far superior method. I had plans for a 16' boat and built it. While marking the plywood from the provided patterns, I ran out of time and didn't have time again ...

Re: Recommend a saw
For the panels a power circular saw works well, BUT it must have an adjustable blade depth. Set the blade to extend just below the panel surface and you can cut the gentle curves of these panels. For the few cuts needed here, any brand will do. Personally, I like the low end models of the profession...
