Hi Larry, I haven't posted to this forum for nearly two years now ( 8O ) but I check it every now and then to see what's going on and just couldn't resist replying to your post. All the advice you have received here is good advice and you certainly need to consider the problems that could arise, but...

I really enjoy building this thing. The satisfaction is tremendous. Who would ever need therapy when you could just build a boat? Now I have to find a way to break it to my wife that I want to build a sail boat. I know exactly what you mean! I thoroughly enjoyed building 'Lake Dreamer' and would lo...

Nice job, Kevin! Your construction is very clean and your modification to the rear seat looks good. It will give your boat that special unique character that we all seem to like to achieve. I see you've put in some side bins as I did - you will find these very useful to keep things out of the way. I...

You are making good progress, dj! I wouldn't worry about the ply not being BS1088. The FL14 is a displacement hull and you can even use good quality exterior ply in lieu of marine ply if you want to. (Looks as if your plywood is a lot better than the exterior ply I used on mine, anyway). I would ech...

I view the flotation foam as insurance - you might never have had to lodge a claim before, but I bet that wouldn't stop you insuring your house, car, boat, etc, would it?! If you are prepared to accept the risk then by all means dispense with the foam and utilise the space for storage. I have...

Re: Absolutely beautiful
Hi Kakupper, Andrey is correct, it's no big deal to add supportsfor the gunwale deck. I would not bother cutting your frames, though - just glue some supports made from scrap ply to either side of the curved frame tops to square them off. These extra pieces will be hardly noticeable under the deck. ...
