Since I have not ridden in an unmodifed OD 18 I cannot tell you the difference in the Chines. But I can tell you that it has not caused any problems. The boat banks very well in turns. I ran a flat piece of plastic across the scupper and re-inserted the screws with washers. Now I will be able to wedge something between the piece of plastic and the rubber flap so that the flap will stay sealed shut.
