Actually both

I am interested in them for thinness and cheapness. For one project I have in mind, I might spring for the "3 mm (1/8 inch) BS1088 okoume for $39 per sheet". For quick and dirty models done as a reality check on new designs, doorskins would be great, but the Okume is a little steep in pric...

Source for Doorskins in Baltimore, Md. Area?

Anyone know where I can find doorskins in the Baltimore Maryland area? If not, how about within a three hour drive of there?

I have looked at the local Home Depot, Lowes, and a couple lumber yards.

I would use it

I found that the rudder tends to float up. The stop prevents this from happening. I never found the stop to swing out of the way because the top of the pintle is usually pressing against it. To remove the rudder I have to push it down a little and then swing the stop out of the way. BTW: I have the ...

Suggestion

I would suggest that rather than close up the area under the seats forever that you might want to consider some round screw in beckson type inspection plates. That way you can get in there for storage, inspection, or what ever. They are about 10 dollars and well worth it IMO.

They are fine

I am using the light duty Racelite set from GlenL and am very happy with it.

I used through bolts with a backing plate, but you could get by with screws if you beefed up the transom. With my 3/8" transom I wouldn't trust screws. If it were 3/4" maybe...

Another Splash Day...

Well actually two! One for the skin on frame West Greenland kayak that I built for my daughter and one for my D4. The D4 was built from the free plans but, carries a sail designed for the Bolger Nymph.

Oar length for D4

Jacques said he used 6-1/2´ oars when using a D4 as a tender. I remember some mention of 7´ oars, and think someone said they used 7-1/2´ ones. It is really a personal preference thing to a large extent.<BR><BR>Check:<BR>http://amateurboatbuilding.com/forum/read.php?f=4&i=1189&t=1178

Painting a D4

A near perfect finish is possible with a brush and quality paint. It can look as good as a spray job.<BR><BR>I have used a method described on CLC´s page with excellent results. Check it out in the tips section at <a href="http://www.clcboats.com/" target="_blank" target="_n...

V10 Fairing Hull

Very nice looking finish.<BR><BR>The rig looks different than any I have seen. Care to comment on it?<BR><BR>Does Jacques show that type of rig on the V12 plans or did you modify the sprit and add a boom? If it is you modification, why did you do it and how did it work out?<BR><BR>Just curious,<BR>P...
