Denatured Alcohol works good. I only use Lacquer thinner when with paints that call for it. Lacquer thinner is a cocktail of noxious chemicals -- its not good for you.

Re: Applying Epoxy - Mixed in Basement; Applied in Cold Gara

Hi all: Just starting out by trying to make my plans for my garage where I will be building DE23. Here's my questions: 1) I live in Chicago where its cold ...my garage is insulated but not heated so sits about 40F 2) If I mix the epoxies in my basement (70F) and apply to my wood in garage would thi...

You can check out the Simmons sea skiff links as a search will produced quite a few. Its a cool story with a lot of connections to the southeast boat building history. Apparently Simmons never had a plan and just built from his templates. I saw this boat on the site -- Painted my OD16 Flag Blue on w...

Shiner is right ;-) Panga is the African word for "blade" -- narrow boats -- high efficiency oriented. I would consider the panga 25 if I had a place to store it. I have also thought about doing just a big dory -- but the FS 17 looks like a good hybrid approach

The FS17 seems to me to be a big 17 footer, compared to production boats. What attracted me to it, is that it is self bailing, hard to find that in a boat this size in the uk. Oh, & the fact that it looks good, to me anyhow. Steve292,posting as a guest Actually, small self-bailing boats are getti...

Seems like you get one request for this a week- at least. Perhaps an FS20 would make sense. I am interested in knowing why an enlarged FS17 is more attractive than .. . Same reason they call boats "She." FS 17 is sexy -- 15% is more to love. I like the classic look of the FS 17 and ...

We have a good number of boats 19' and larger.
Could the builder scale up the plan by 15%?

Any Plans for a bigger version of the FS 17

Any plans for bigger versions of the FS 17 -- like a 19 or 20?

Very cool to see a modernized version of the Simmons.

Hey, you should know how to fix dings  :)
I am cool with dings -- paint, its a different religion.

Fairing over painted hull? Right compound?

Fairing over painted hull? Right compound?

Need to fair a couple of shallow dings in my boat before repainting. I have Interlux Perfection on it now and will repaint with same. What is the right compound and process to fair over this paint?

Tre Bon!
