Re: NJ inshore suggestions?

Up here in buzards bay conditions can change fast and the water can be cold, The higher sides and deeper cockpit of the C17 is a blessing. Can cruise at twenty mph in choppy water with practically no water or spray getting into the boat....got a bilge pump but it never gets used. My passengers and ...

Re: NJ inshore suggestions?

I started in kayaks and had similar criteria for a boat for buzzards bay in MA and to go six to ten mikes off shore at most. I built a C17 center console version... great solo and with another......have takenup to four fishing and did fine . Dont have a bow trolling motor on it though......probably ...

Re: OD 18 or 16, sides raising

The C17 will give you the cockpit depth you're looking for without modifications. I didnt find the hull construction difficult.......60 hp is enough to power it.

Re: C17 open 'Fair Enough' in France

Congrats Oliver. Excellent choice on the open C17. You wont be disappointed. I have my gas tank in the console seat....19 gal....which as it turns out is larger than my 60 hp Yamaha needs for all day and more.... its vented and sealed from the upper console and wiring. Boat is going on ten years old...

Re: C17 - questions pre-build

Good choice by you to build the C17. I couldnt be happier with my C17 built as a center console. I wouldnt raise the sole...just fine as designed. And no on notching the frames at the overlap....waste of time IMO. Thirteen gal tank will be good ....i put a 19 and its overkill for all the trips ive m...

Re: General CNC Kit Question

Hi Greatlakesman: The cnc kit is a great way to go. I built the C17 from a kit and it went together quickly and with very little fuss. I am a master carpenter with over forty five years experience and could have very easily managed cutting the pieces myself, but the C17 kit was offered for sale by s...

Re: First time build, leaning towards FS17, should I reconsider the GV17, OD18, OB18, C17 or others?

The C17 that I built as a center console, has enough room to seat four people comfortably for an all day excursion... or fishing.....you could squeeze in another one or two for a short transport to the sandbar. It has a higher sides than the others and a motorwell bulkhead that keeps any water that ...
