Re: a sailboat I'd like to see

After further consideration, doesn't the VG26 offer all of this functionality except the junk rig? I would think so. A junk rig's primary benefit is simplicity in sail management. But look at the VG26's sail plan--large main and small jib on a fractional rig. This is a well-tried setup (the Pearson...

Re: Larger V12?

I would have suggested the Otter 16 as well. I think it's one of the more elegant and useful designs on the site.

Toad's program seemed kind of weird to me. The only other idea I could come up with was to build the CV16, skip the sail and mount an outboard on the transom.

I think everybody would agree that your fantastic work has been an inspiration. We should be thanking you!

In any event, good luck with the new life in SA, and thanks for sharing your hard work.

There is hope on the horizon: crude oil is going up and we may not be able to afford gas guzzlers anymore. From your lips to God's ears. Well, Allah's ears, maybe. I see figures like 5-8 gallons/hour running time and my feet sweat. Like you say, people just don't go out on the water instead. It's c...

Re: Help Jacques decide

What should be on the JMM design table after he finishes the TW34? I'd like to see that Nauticat-style motor sailer. I think my "big boat" is going to be the VG26, but I could be persuaded otherwise. If fuel prices continue to escalate I think we may see a resurgence in efficient displace...

Re: D5 and V-10

Anybody know what the DWL displacment is for these two boats? I wish it was posted on all of the plans. :? Gives people an idea of the weight carrying capacity without having to ask.... As is the case for most dinghies, the physical space largely dictates the carrying capacity. Unless, of course, y...

I don't like that type of watercraft and do not plan to design one, sorry. A story I like to tell regarding PWCs. I was out fishing off Ship Island with my brother, dad and his business partner. We're minding our own business when three PWCs come zooming up to us. One of them is screaming "My ...

Re: Comparing Models for Sail

My program is a stable, easy single-handed sail boat with fair performance for a young (the kids anyway) growing family of four. Most often, the boat would be used on lakes, but ocassionally I'd like to take it out on a bay. I'm looking at the C12, CR13, CV16 and possibly the CK17. Most of the time...

Outside in contact with the wate and here is what you want to use. http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|328|303332&id=28060 It is the equivalent of 12 sq.ft of copper. The wires and bolts are inside. Can you use the same ground plate for a SSB radio, or do you really need two? Assuming t...
