Okay. The fillets and inside taping are done. The masking tape worked great for my fillets. They left a really clean line. My fiberglass tape is a little wavy however and i tried to get it as straight as possible. Hopefully additional epoxy and sanding will hide the lines somewhat. One problem I ran...

It's ready for fillets. I got to excited and ended up taping it all together without pre-coating the panels liek I planned. I was anxious to see her take shape. I still plan on using masking tape though to get a clean fillet line since I want a bright finish on the interior. http://gallery.bateau2.c...

NC16 Build: A Comedy of Errors

Please excuse my attempt at a clever thread title. Anyways, I started my NC16 build on 8/13/05 by picking up 2.5 sheets of 6mm bs1088 Okoume from a local source. In the past few days I have completed the following tasks: - Cut out panels - Glued butt blocks in place - Temporarily and loosely taped h...

I'm 99.9% positive, unless I've been deceived somehow. Along the edge on the short side it says something like" Lloyd approved 6mm BS1088 Made in France". I can't remember the exact wording right now. It doesn't look terrible or anything though, so I think it will still be fine.

I'll post soon pictures soon. I am taking a bunch while I build.

Good to see another Minnesotan (or former Minnesotan). You'll be happy to know that I am going to buy my breasthook and rubrail material from Menards. We'll see if I do indeed "save big money."

I didn't get it from you guys. I got it local in the Twin Cities. I think I'll just go ahead and use the side without knots. Thanks for the fast replies. I can get back to work on it now and start gluing the butt-blocks!

Thanks.

Does Okoume BS1088 have a good side and a bad side?

If it does have a good side and a bad side, I'd assume the bad side would be the side with the Lloyd's stamp and the manufactuerr sticker. However, the other side (which I assumed would be better) has more knots on my sheets. I want to put the good side on the inside of my NC16 canoe because I'm goi...

Which NC16 epxoy kit comes with free plans???

I almost ordered the $130 epoxy kit but then noticed it does not include the plans. It looks like the System 3 ($155) includes the plans, along with the E-Poxy kit ($125). I could always buy the $130 kit and pay the $10 for the plans. So, which kit is recommended? I'm not hung up on price...I just w...
