Re: CK 17 Trailer
bought a standart glavanised trailor from a boat dealer. It has 12" wheels and the boat sits on to bunkers. It cost around 1 grand as I recall. I think it's an easy loader or something like that. I'm guessing a jon boat trailer would work well.

Re: CK 17 Spar, Sail Storage
My masts are 2.5 inch 6061T. I had a forward mast holder welded up that bolts on the toungue of my trailer. I made a wooden mast holder that fits in a bracket on the transom. The aft bracket is removeable. Ive seen these on other boats that use a pintle/gudgeon arrangement to mount the holder to the...

Re: CK 17 knock down question
Paul, Thanks for the tacking tip of backing the main. Another slight annoyance is when sailing in light air (no heel) , the main seems to over power the rudder. Sometimes I can sheet in the mizzen and let out the main to rebalance the boat. This doesn't seem optimum from a sail trim standpoint. Have ...

Re: CK 17 knock down question
Had a great sail yesterday, strongest wind yet. I think we did some surfing. About 20 knots wind on a broad reach with a following sea. The daggar board was buzzing

Re: CK 17 knock down question
Hi Paul, Have you sailed your CK as a schooner yet? Does it improve the balance of the boat in light air? My concern is starting out as a schooner and then having the wind pick up and having to swap mast positions on the water. It seems to me that its easier to use an oar to assist tacking in light ...

Re: CK 17 knock down question
Thanks guys. We have been sailing it alot lately and learning it's minor quirks, like not liking to tack in light air. We just make a couple of strokes with the paddle to help get it around. I've still yet to sail it as a schooner, although i rigged it as a schooner this afternoon. We sailed last we...

Re: CK 17 knock down question
Thanks, I'll put some thought into what lines can be used for righting. being coated from head to toe in SPF 50 doesn't help matters. it made trying to push myself up onto the daggar board like trying to grab a greased pig :D http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b7d737b3127ccec274fc832a1000000010O00QZt...

CK 17 knock down question
I intentionally tipped the boat over while on the moring. I have a combination of sealed compartments and foam floation in the boat. I stuffed foam pool toy "noodles' down the masts--one in each. As a result, the boat floated on it's side very high in the water. The mast tips settled about 6 in...
