Re: GF 16 transom for 20hp
There are modifications on this forum if you want to build it heavier for up to 25 hp. I also doubled my bow transom based on Larry's comments. However, the boat seems to be very well designed as is without the additional wood if you are looking to build lighter. http://forums.bateau2.com/viewtopic....

Re: 2013 builder's meet
I agree with the 2 event idea. Its always nice to go south for a visit and having another event in the panhandle or south Alabama/or Mississippi could help broaden the base of boat builders.

Re: Southeastern Boat Builders Meet 2013
No problem Larry. Just so we're all clear - here's how we see it from here :D Savannah and all points east of us - You are on the East Coast. All points from Tampa Florida South - You are in South Florida. That may not be correct, but that's what it looks like from the northern gulf coast... :D Proc...

Re: Southeastern Boat Builders Meet 2013
Obviously, I missed an opportunity to be offended but no offense taken  . I was just responding to the first part of the thread where Jacques and Peter mentioned having the meet in the panhandle area. Orange Beach AL sits on the AL/FL line, right next door to Pensacola. Best I can tell, its in ...

Re: Southeastern Boat Builders Meet 2013
Agreed, I was suggesting something that was as close to the Innlet as is available. However, everyone doesn't bring a boat to the meet so having less expensive options for rooms may help expand the number of people who come. Looks like most folks want to have it down south again though.

94Virago : There is a Fairfield by Marriott in OB as well. Not far from the area that I am referring to. Not on the water though. Lots of options there, especially if the plans are set this fall.

Re: Southeastern Boat Builders Meet 2013
If you are interested in going to the Alabama gulf coast, I will be glad to help. Orange Beach, AL has a lot more condo rentals than hotels, and some are on the bay and have boat dockage. Here is a link to a complex on VRBO. This complex is very close to a boat launch and there is another condo righ...

Re: Anyone Fishing?
I remember those old LORANs well. Had to use one to navigate a shrimp boat from LA to AL one cold thanksgiving. We had a furuno paper machine. Still can smell that burned paper. My last year charter fishing was '88. Still no limits on red snapper at that time. However, I do remember that I only caug...

Re: Anyone Fishing?
If there is a bright side, it is that your snapper are going to get huge and plentiful. However, it will just make everything more frustrating. As a kid, I would talk to the old captains about how they found snapper before lorans. They told me that they could see them on top of the water. Even as a ...
