Ken - I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my dad 1/31/06 and I miss him very much. He was 86. Sounds like both our dads lived full lives. That doesn't make it easy, but it's still comforting. I wish you and your family peace and comfort over the coming weeks.

Ah, I see the light. :D ArizonaBuilder and ks8 - thank you for the excellent explanations! I see now that a "high spot" in a frame or stringer that has a void next to or near it that is NOT filled with putty or foam would indeed create a 'hard spot'. Sorry for the confusion, and thanks aga...
