Re: Epoxy Fillet Tool
Check out Puppydrum's post in his old XF20 build. Used a brick mason's tool from Lowes. A couple bucks.

Finishing P'Drum's XF20
Retired August 31, house is almost done, and I hope to have the XF20 finished by Shad season this spring. I'll be running a 80's Mercury 700. My question is: On a heavy XF with a tunnel driven by a 70HP two-stroke, how necessary is a hydraulic jackplate? Obviously not interested in speed records. Re...

XF20 Mod Flats Build
Purchased puppydrum’s xf20 low sheer decked version almost a year ago. Finally able to start finishing in Ernest. Purchased SYS THREE primer probably 18 months ago and its been outside in the weather this winter. Question: any chance I can use this paint? Or should I consign same to Davy Jones’ lock...

Haven't read all the posts, but re: engines: These guys in Austrailia built a beautiful marinized 2.5l horizontally opposed Subaru. The Subaru boxer engine is a marvelous piece of engineering. http://www.kiwiengineering.com/SubaruMa ... rated.html

Re: OD18 North Carolina
I built an Indian River Skiff (D15) 10 years ago using exterior plywood, and learned the hard way that marine plywood, preferably 1088 is the only way to go. As regards hardener, I am going with slow until October.

Re: Sure is quiet around here...
Larry: I noticed Hamaan's OD18 and have emailed him to see if it is available. I built an Indian River Skiff 8 or 9 years ago, and it has been much too tender for me from the beginning. The last time I used the boat last Spring, I fell twice, once overboard at the ramp and then head first into the f...

Re: Wooden Sailboat Restore with epoxi
A related but different question: I read a Wooden Boat article a year or two ago about a fairly large Motor Sailor that was rebuilt by thoroughly drying the thing out, then covering with multiple layers of both (epoxy impregnated) fabric and mat. The result was an extremely thick exo-skin that was s...

C-19 Builder in Wilmington, NC?
A guy in New Bern, NC is selling a 19' skiff that looks very much like the C19. Seller bought the boat for the engine, knows very little about the design or construction of the boat, but thinks it might have been built by someone building and selling it in Wilmington, NC area. Has anyone in that are...

Re: Need their Heads Examined
Used to be fairly common on the outer banks. Fishermen would launch a boat from the beach, set a net. Re-launch the next day to pull the outboard end to the beach.
