That is a great looking boat. Next time mine needs painting, I will use the Valspar topcoat also. Thanks for the tip.

I have to agree with Ralph. I think you would want to drill a small hole at the base of the pvc, so that the water can drain out. Even if you never get her upside down, if you get caught in a rain, the rain will travel down the mast and into the sleeve.

I used a 5 1/2 battery powered circular saw and it worked great. Just set the blade slightly deeper than the wood and go at it. I was able to follow the currves with no problem.
