Re: texasrds OD18 build mid-coast Texas

Sounds good. I'll contact you directly, and we'll take her for a spin. I'll warn you though, mine is just a fishing tool, not a work of craftmenship like Cracker Larry's, and some of the others I've seen!

Re: texasrds OD18 build mid-coast Texas

Hey Randy, I haven't checked out the forum for a while, so just noticed you're building the OD 18. I will have my OD 18 at Port Aransas for most of the month of October. If you want to check it out or take a ride, just let me know. Mine is about 4 years old now, and I have really enjoyed it. I know ...

Congratulations, Huck.
It looks great. I wish we could have gotten together while I was down there last month, but at least you got to see the OD 18 passing by. Thanks for the fishing report. We tore the reds up in Fish River. I know you are proud of your boat, and well you should be.

Please don't take offense. But if you've checked your measurements, and they're correct, could the panel be upside down? Sometimes they look backwards until you bend them around the curvature of the hull.

Yes you can do it. The OD 18 was my first build. It was a learning experience, and I made a few mistakes along the way, but the boat turned out great. Just relax. Start studying the plans, notes and build it in your mind first. There are many here that can answer your questions, and yes you have pho...

Larry,
I put in 4" chase tubes outside the stringers. My console is 30" wide, so I was able not to have to run through the stringers. With the glass and sole supports glued in to the braces, it's still plenty strong in my opinion.

Daniel,
I'll do it for sure. Looking forward to it, and yes, thanks for the pics. I can build the boat, I'm just not smart enough to post pics of it!

First guys. let me say, I'm very happy with the OD 18. You will be too. It is the great fishing machine I hoped it would be, and I get lots of compliments on it whereever I go. One of these days I need to post some pics of it. I'm going to have it iwth me the whole month of October in Orange Beach, ...

Just my 2 cents. If you want to have a chance of it being self-bailing, I would recommend moving the console forward some from what the plans show. You are doing the right thing putting fuel tanks/live wells as far forward as possible also. The boat tends to be light in front anyway, and this weight...
