I employed a friend as a first-fix chippy when he came back from travelling the world. He used to be a metalurgist in the tungsten-carbide industry. Showing him how to do timber studwork was fun. He kept cutting the noggins 20 thou undersize 8O

Tim, Boat looking great. You shouldn't have a problem with the water because they manage it all up-stream before it gets to you. By manage I mean wake my folks in rural Oxfordshire at 2 am to tell them that they have closed some sluices just down river of them and that they have about an hour before...

I had a very small engine fire on a tractor unit and used 2 of the 4lb powder extinguishers that came with the truck. They didn't touch it. I ha...

Kiwi said You want something along the lines of the English canal boats - long and narrow. They are very tippy if you haven't been on board one. The only reason that a narrow boat is stable is because it weighs loads. The area under the floor on ours was covered in dense concrete slabs plus the fact...

Dougster, I think you gave yourself more work than needed by starting way too early with the plane. 8O I would just get a little block as high as your gap, run a pencil along the length of the skeg then cut off the excess with a handsaw. If you are bedding it on epoxy, the fit won’t need to be tha...
