Well my bike is getting a bit old. It would be nice to get something newer- I've heard you don't have to regulate the timing with the left grip anymore. Neat! Also had to change to one of those electric headlights because calcium carbide tablets are getting hard to find. http://i206.photobuck...

If you knew West End back then, that tells me something about you  Ha! don't get the wrong Idea.. I was only there for the fishing- world class fishing. I used to go there with my old man several times a year and I was just a teenager. But one couldn't help but notice the other "activiti...

Hey Larry,

thanks for the stories and the pictures.. very entertaining!

I spent quite a bit of time myself in West End GBI in the early 80's and think I recognize the harbour. It was quite a special place back then.

.. now how about those pirates?

Hey Berend, good job on the model! I think it would make a really neat looking boat... if it was about 20ft long. :) Having spent some time in a v12 I have to say I have my doubts that you will achieve your objectives with those modifications. Reason is, you have only really shifted your seating pos...

Re: First boat--- small sailing dinghy?

I am thinking that the V10 is too big to cartop though. Hey Jim, I have a v12 and cartop it all the time. I can even put it on the racks by myself. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/13965/normal_042s.jpg I agree though it is easier to take it in a trailer, but I usually take it on the roof...

OK after looking closer at it in plan view I realize why Evan designed it the way he did. That pilothouse roof is about as far forward as you can go without overhanging the edges of the boat. My raked forward version would make it a bit tricky to walk around to get to the front, and might look a bit...

Remember the specifed amount of epoxy in the BOM takes into account standard package sizes, so that could explain why the v12 kit specifies twice as much as the FL12. They are similar size boats, but the V12 has one more seam down the middle and a little more detail in the seats. FWIW I used much le...

I uploaded a few more pictures of the finished boat in my gallery here: http://forums.bateau2.com/thumbnails.php?album=481&page=4 I have been using the boat quite a bit over the summer and it has performed well. It is a really nice rowing boat: well balanced, tracks straight and moves effortless...
